My name is Eli. I love making music with people and helping others realize their artistic vision. I work mostly as a producer, mix engineer, and bassist but sometimes music direct live performances and play other instruments as well. I currently live in Los Angeles.
I grew up playing DIY shows in Western Massachusetts and then attended Oberlin College and Conservatory in Ohio, completing bachelor’s degrees in Jazz Performance and Africana Studies, and performing regularly in the Cleveland gospel and R&B scenes. After college, I lived in Boston for a few years as a master’s student at the Berklee Global Jazz Institute, followed by some time in New York City. During this period, I had the opportunity to meet and study with some of my biggest musical influences including John Patitucci, Terri Lyne Carrington, Danilo Perez, and Linda Oh, and perform at venues and festivals around the world.
I like songs that feel good. I like mixes that make me want to dance. I like contrast and space. I like co-writing, puzzle solving and finding a lot of ways to make a recording 5% better. I like intentional voice leading and arranging. I like things that sound like they might fall apart. I like studios with windows. I like being outdoors. I love making things.
